20 July 2003 : Last Gasper Saves Azul Blushes
Cruz scrape 2-1 win with goals from Adomaydis, again, and captain Gaspar. Up against lowly Abbaddon, Los Azul Bananas struggled to overcome a defence as strong as a paper towell. After 17 minutes the revitalised Ancient Briton Adomaydis struck his third in two games, set up by new strike partner Poli, Adomaydis snapped a sidefoot volley past the keeper. As temperatures soared past ninty-five, Coach Grahamio promptly pulled off aging Adomaydis, confident no one else would score.

But just before half time Abbaddon equalised with a goal direct from a coner kick that flew in above 'keeper Minutez's head, David Seaman style. Second half, as the Ancient Briton took his seat in the executive box alonside chairman 'Mucho' Papel Moneda and scouts from Chel$ki FC, the Cruz Azul players contined to pepper the desert sky with 'smart' longshots. Then with minutes to go, portly captain Bernabe Gaspar picked up a loose ball, checked, and hit a looping shot over the bar... oh! but it dipped violently and nestled in the top left corner. A second win on the trot then, 2-1.

Meanwhile Cruz Azul Sahuayo A.C. CIO Ernesto Blanco Chequeo, denied that the internationally famous football club were even considering an offer from Chel$ki for Adomaydis "The Ancient Briton isn't going anywhere," he said, "as usual." But team captain Gaspar was more forthcoming: "We don't want to lose Adomaydis," he said, "he's the only one who can reach the crossbar to put the nets up each game."
